Emo's beaded art

Image 1. Click to open in original size.

I have always been fond of of making different things. As a teenager, I dreamed of my home where I had made a lot of items myself, woven mats and tied rya rugs on the floors, embroidered and crocheted  tableclothes on the furniture and much more.

In 1973 I started a small shop with toys.
In the 1980s, I began selling patterns to PRP.
5 of my booklets have been printed and can be bought in well-stocked toy stores.

One of the many advantages of polyethylene PRP is that it is so easy to shape when it is hot and then steady durable as it is cooled.

In 1998 I made this angel on a large round pegboard. It was ironed and shaped while it still was warm.

Beaded figures can be made with slits so you can get figures that can stand up. To the left is a horse with riders. The horse is made up of three pieces that are put together and the rider is made on a small round pegboard. If you want to have the toys more durable, you can iron the pieces on both sides.
To the right is a luminous ghost. It is laid on a small square pegboard. One piece is body and two pieces are legs or Support.

My characters are made of beads, so in March 2007 I thought I would show some of them at Pärlplatsen. What a happy surprise. I was so wonderfully well received there. Many of the participants there praised my figures and brought me some nice comments. That made me get so many new ideas. To Easter, I made some standing cocks.

Then I started making Indians and received a lot of positive comments, so there were several shapes on that theme.

The classic way to use PRP was to sew with them.

This basket is made up of three bands in different size with peyote techniques. They are sewn together and the grip is reinforced with masking tape.

PRP can be used in many different ways. Here I have chosen to make round disks with crayfish. They are under glass plates. I have made small round coasters for glassware.

Some large round disks have been formed and used for accessories.

It is easy to make popular gifts of PRP.

Fun for kids to make and happy for adults to get.

Young people and adults have for many years made computer game figures (pixel art) and paintings with PRP. Many used their imaging programs to make portraits. Eventually came various programs that made it easier to make patterns into images. First, simple programs came with a very limited number of colors, but now there are several different programs to choose from and several of them are free.

Once you've laid your motif, you can put the tiles together, take two steps back and review your artwork. Then you may see that it will be better if you change a PRP here and a PRP there. It is you who is the artist. The program only helps you. When you're happy with the adjustments, it's time to glue or iron.

Here I have used a photograph from 1945. First, I made the bananas yellow in my usual image processing program. Then I generated a pattern, placed the beads after the pattern but made the background in color.

There is no rule that says the beads must be placed standing.

This will represent coral. I chose to glue the beads lying down.

This painting is the largest I made with PRP, 40500 pieces.

The original is a faded old photo that was enhanced in my image processing program.

Of all I made of PRP,  I probably like Hubert  the most.

I made some short series at Pärlplatsen and was asked to make another

Then I thought of an old fable and counted that it could consist of 7 squares.

It became a lot longer and Hubert (called the donkey) has become a friend of many, not just in the world of beads but now also on iFokus and now on Savvity too.

At iFokus, I have shown a lot to my friends.. They have made me interested in doing things of jewelry beads as well.

There were many balls of 30 beads. Here are two who became earrings.

This is also a 30-bead ball, but it contains 90 beads. Each round bead is replaced by a combination: round white + disc + round white.

More things made of that kind of beads coming soon.

Thank you Tammie.

When I knew how to make the balls, I started making shapes. One of the first was this pear.

When I then made a carrot in the same style, I got the question where the rabbit were, I had to make just a rabbit.

That is how my friends inspire me to new characters.
